If you are interested in volunteering with Junket, we would love to talk more with you. Please complete the survey below so we can get to know you, see what you're about and where you would like to contribute.

Because we are a small operation it may take a few weeks to hear back from us, but we promise, you will!  As we step into 2018 we are implementing a new program to encourage variety in exposure of new experiences for the youth.  We will bring in volunteers for one-time events, fingers-crossed once a month, allowing them to introduce the youth to something they are passionate about, whether cooking, climbing mountains, cross stitch,  running, whatever it may be. It's a work in progress but our hope is to make it a little bit easier to meet the youth and see what an impact you can make.

Our next few projects are writing driven so if you are interested in journalism, poetry or some other type of writing and in the area of Social Media we would love your help! Please reach out to Sara sara@junketnyc.org directly.  We look forward to hearing from you!

How To Become A Foster Parent

The Child Welfare System in New York City is run by the Administration for Children's Services (ACS for short). Their website lays out the process of how to become a foster parent, you can request an info packet along with all the resource information as well. Their website is a good place to get a glimpse of what "the system" looks like and a step-by-step of how to get started. [click button below]

Mercy First Foster Care Agency

Mercy First is Junket's partner agency-- all youth who come through our program have been involved in some way with Mercy First's foster care program. We highly recommend this agency if you are in the NYC area and we're happy to link you with someone directly, please reach out if you'd like a direct introduction.

You can contact Heather at heather@junketnyc.org if you have any questions. She has also walked through the process of the NYC foster care system and has been a cleared foster parent with Mercy First.

Mercy First's website gives general information about the programs they offer and also gives an option to submit a pre-qualification form to see if you are eligible to become a foster parent through their agency.

You Gotta Believe

You Gotta Believe is an amazing organization that focuses on matching older youth and young adults who wish to be adopted, even if they are already "aged out" of the system. They help link youth with forever families to provide that lifetime safety net that so many lack after leaving the foster care system.

We cannot stress enough how every child deserves a family and support system throughout their entire life. You Gotta Believe is aiming to bridge the gap, and provide those opportunities.

NOTE: they also offer MAPP, the foster parent training class that is mandatory for anyone interested in becoming a foster parent in NYC.
